OTD Summary
OTD Summary
The Norwegian Continental Shelf is facing a record investment boom, with respectively NOK 240 and 280 billion in 2012 and 2013. Over 200,000 people work directly or indirectly in the Norwegian petroleum activities. This is the backdrop for the Offshore Technology Days (OTD) which in 2012 is held for the 12th consecutive year.
OTD is organized by Offshore Media Group, which since 1982 has focused on the Norwegian continental shelf and its supplier industry. Oil and gas findings from this decade still play a major role and will in 2030 account for 35% of total production. This means that hundreds of billion of dollars will be invested in a handful of old large fields. Investments in new infrastructure or new platforms in the existing fields are estimated to total NOK 87 billion in 2011. In addition, there will be heavy investments in exploration activities and new installations.
This means that oil companies will demand reliable products and new technological solutions from a wide range of Norwegian and foreign suppliers. OTD is the largest annual Norwegian oil exhibition and attracts over 330 companies as exhibitors, with 20,500 visiting professionals. What is than more natural than to market your goods and services here?
OTD represents the Norwegian Continental Shelf. With a dense and concentrated exhibition area and a famous Oktoberfest, the OTD is a natural gathering place for large and small suppliers. The last four years, the show has been sold out with long waiting lists, and feedback from the exhibitors shows that they are getting business out of their OTD participation.
A unique meeting place for players in the oil and energy industry
Offshore Technology Days (OTD) started in 1999 with a seminar at AGR in Straume, outside Bergen to which 7 companies were invited. Since then, OTD has become Norway's largest annual oil & energy industry exhibition, and only exceeded by ONS. In 2006 Offshore Media Group (OMG) took over responsibility for organising the event and that year the exhibition had 120 exhibitors and 3,000 visitors.
In 2007, OMG decided to move OTD to the Arenum Exhibition Centre in Bergen. With more than 200 stands and over 8,000 visitors, 2007 was regarded as a breakthrough for OTD. The accompanying Octoberfest event was also a huge success with 1,200 participants from among the exhibiting companies. The success continued and in the three following years the exhibition has been a sell-out with 220 stands and more than 10,000 visitors.
In 2011 the show experienced a growth of 54 per cent from the previous year regarding the number of exhibitors, and the number of visitors was doubled.
There were in total 20,593 visitors at the show in Stavanger Forum, which was sold out in advance with 328 exhibitors from the oil industry.
- All stands were sold out several weeks in advance. We believe that both this fact and the record-breaking number of visitors are connected to the favourable prospects of the oil industry, says Peter N. Keilen, Exhibition & Conference Manager in Offshore Media Group, the organiser of Norway’s largest annual oil show, OTD.
But it is not only size that makes OTD a unique meeting place for suppliers and operators in the oil and energy sector. The reason so many companies return year after year and why so many new players are applying is because OTD offers the perfect venue for forging new contacts and cultivating existing ones. In short, all feedback shows that OTD in its dense and concentrated form gives concrete results, also for smaller companies.
OTD is dimensioned so that all exhibiting companies have a chance to participate in our famous Octoberfest social event on the evening of the opening day of the exhibition. The social framework around OTD is designed to give "value added interaction" and provide participants with an opportunity to meet in less formal surroundings.
OTD is a meeting place where a convivial atmosphere provides the right conditions for discussing future cooperation plans and business projects.
In combination with OTD, we at OMG also organise a variety of co-events such as conferences, seminars and student arrangements.
